-MSN Messenger, now called Windows Live Messenger, is a freeware instant messaging client that was developed and distributed by Microsoft in 1999 to 2005.
-It was renamed Windows Live Messenger in February 2006 as part of Microsoft's Windows Live series of online services and software.

1 Case study(Local)
STOMPer Alkiefish sent in this online conversation he had this afternoon (Aug 17).
"What I thought was a friend, turned out to be a solicitation for sex!" he says.
The STOMPer, who signed on to his msn messenger account, discovered somebody by the name of 'Joann' adding him.
"I thought it was a friend of mine," he says, "but little did I expect the conversation to turn into an online solicitation for sex."
The conversation went on as below -

well since its the law that u gotta be 18 (nudity involved), u have to sign up with a credit card for age verification! BUT.. Once you are inside, just clikc on "Webcams" let me know what name you use to sign in with so I know it is you babe! Fill out the bottom of the page then fill out the next page as well and u can see me live!

WOW! Go away I'm gonna report you.

The STOMPer believes that it's a script at the other end of the conversation and he wonders how marketers managed to get his msn address.
"I think it's dangerous if young children, who immerse themselves in technology, get suckered into such gimmicks. "
Worse still, is that if they somehow manage to land their hands on their parent's credit cards..."

Inspirational Use of MSN
1) You are able to contact with your friends and family members through the net conveniently and it's free! (:
2) You can contact and webcam with one another when your friends or family memebers are overseas! This made the world a much smaller place :D
3) You can make new pals over MSN(but don't go overboard by meeting them up or what so ever that could put you in danger! Just have a mutual talk with them over the net but NEVER take them for real).
4)You can be able to communicate with your friends things you do not dare to tell them when meeting them face to face.

Dangers of MSN
1) People can easily manipulate you into giving and providing them information of yourself as they would make you think they are safe.
2) People can pose as another identity to make friends with you and build up the trust you have in him/her, before tricking you.
3) People can spread information they found out about you over MSN on the net. Viewers of the net now know your personal information and may try to use it for certain purposes, which may pose a risk to you.
4) They may spam your conversation box with nonsensical stuffs which are an eyesore.

Cyber Wellness Tips
1) Do not reveal information like your address, contact numbers, email, birthday and school name on the net as this may give strangers a chance to contact you and probably even stalk you.
2) Do not add people whom you do not know on MSN.
3) Do not agree to meet up with strangers when approached. If you really want to, get an adult or a group of friends along.
4)If a stranger harasses you over MSN, always remember to stay calm, tell your parents or report the case to the police.
